Do you need training in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English? Do you need help speaking and understanding English at work? At your child’s school? When you are shopping? At the doctor’s office? As an adult who speaks another language, you can take classes in English as a Second Language at the Community Multicultural Center (CMC). You will be placed in a class level according to your reading test score and oral interview at registration. You can take ESL courses throughout the day and evening. You will also learn about American culture and traditions, survival skills-such as filling out job applications, making appointments and calling for emergency assistance and many other necessary English language skills.

Required Steps to Get into the ESL Classes
1. Attend registration (see 2011-2012 calendar)
2. Bring a picture ID and $10.
3. Take an oral interview
4. Take a reading test
5. Talk with a counselor to determine the level of class that you need
6. Find a convenient time in the schedule for your class
7. Register for class
